Tissot Watches Reviewed: 8 Top Picks From the Brand

NanaDC watch reviews

Founded in 1853 by Charles-Felicien Tissot and his son Charles-Emile Tissot in Le Locle, Switzerland, Tissot has since grown to become a globally celebrated luxury watch brand.

Nowadays, Tissot is best known for its Swiss heritage, timeless designs, and quality products.

However, with so many good watch brands out there in the market, how do you know if Tissot is the best one to invest in? Read our review of Tissot below to find out!

Tissot Seastar 1000: Best Overall

The Tissot Seastar 1000 is one of the most popular watches from the Tissot brand—and with good reason.

Modeled after a classic, dive-style watch, the Tissot Seastar 1000 melds the expected functionality of a watersport watch with the beautiful aesthetics of one meant for more formal events.

On Sale
Tissot mens Seastar 660/1000 Stainless Steel Casual Watch Grey T1204071105100
  • Case Size: 43.00 millimeter; Band Width: 21 millimeter; Case Thickness: 12.70 millimeter
  • Swiss automatic movement, 316L stainless steel case, without dial type, date
  • Stainless steel bracelet, folding clasp with safety and diver extension closure

With its 300-meter (or 1000-feet) water resistance, unidirectional bezel [R] for safe timekeeping purposes, and Super-LumiNova markers for low-light readability, this Tissot watch is an excellent practical choice.

However, what's even more impressive is its quality Powermatic 80 automatic movement.

The self-winding mechanism can run for up to 80 hours without any movement from the user, so you won't have to sacrifice convenience if you decide to get this automatic watch.

Design-wise, the Tissot Seastar 1000 looks and feels very elegant: Its black dial features a subtle sunburst design, applied index markers [R] for a raised finish, and a round date window at 6 o'clock that flows seamlessly with the rest of the face's elements.

It also comes in a stainless steel case and strap so you can wear it confidently for dressier occasions.

The clincher for me, though, is it's priced so reasonably for such a luxurious watch! It's not cheap by any means, but you can expect to spend a lot less than if you purchase a similar style from other high-end brands.

  • Reasonably priced
  • Water resistance of 300 meters
  • Scratch-resistant sapphire crystal dial
  • Quality Swiss automatic movement (Tissot Powermatic 80)
  • Functional
  • It can feel a bit large and heavy for some users

Tissot Couturier Automatic: Best Value

The Tissot Couturier Automatic watch features a distinct style that will definitely appeal to consumers looking for something a little more unique.

At first glance, its white and stainless steel detailing seems pretty basic, but the addition of the three subdials for chronograph functions and a fourth circle enclosing the small date window at 3 o'clock immediately elevate the watch design.

  • Luminescent hands and markers. Date display at the 3 o'clock position. Chronograph - sub-dials...
  • Swiss-automatic movement

Its monochromatic palette gives it an overall clean and crisp look that will suit practically anyone.

Like the Tissot Seastar 1000 watch, the Tissot Couturier Automatic watch has a sapphire crystal dial and a stainless steel case.

However, its automatic movement is less powerful than the Tissot Seastar's, and it's water-resistant only up to 100 meters.

Nevertheless, it's still functional enough for an average watch user—with a great design to boot!

  • Water resistance of 100 meters
  • Scratch-resistant sapphire crystal dial
  • Quality Swiss automatic movement
  • Chronograph functions
  • A bit expensive
  • Dirt/dust can sometimes get trapped between the crystal and the case

Tissot Everytime Swissmatic: Best Budget Pick

Marketed as a watch you'll choose every time and for every occasion, the Tissot Everytime Swissmatic is a great, entry-level option for those on a budget.

Out of all the Tissot watches on this list, this one is the most minimalist: It has polished metal details, a simple, black dial, and a dark alligator-patterned strap as its main design feature.

Tissot unisex-adult Everytime Desire Auto Stainless Steel Dress Watch Black T1094071605100
  • Case Size: 40.00 mm, Band Width: 21 mm, Case Thickness: 11.62 mm
  • Swiss Tissot automatic movement, 316L stainless steel case, Index dial type,
  • Leather bracelet, standard buckle closure

Save for the tiny date window at 3 o'clock, the watch contains no other extras that could distract the user too. Overall, this basic layout allows for easy readability.

What we like most about this Tissot model, though, is it still manages to include great specifications at a low price.

In fact, the watch runs on a Swiss automatic movement with 72 hours of power reserve—that's not far from the Tissot Seastar 1000 watch, which is a high-end pick.

The other features are a little less impressive but I don't think you'll mind them too much considering the cost.

Practical, reliable, and affordable, the Tissot Everytime Swissmatic watch is a must-have for those looking to try out the brand for the first time.

  • Very affordable
  • Scratch-resistant sapphire crystal dial
  • Quality Swiss automatic movement (Tissot Swissmatic 72)
  • Water resistance of only 30 meters
  • Basic functions
  • May be too plain-looking for some users

Tissot Tradition Perpetual Calendar

Because Tissot Tradition watches are pieces inspired by the 1950s, they feature classic detailing such as guilloche [R] patterns and curved stainless steel casings.

We like the Tissot Tradition Perpetual Calendar watch model in particular because it allows the wearer to read the exact date, day, and month on the dial.

Tissot Mens Perpetual Calendar Tradition Watch T063.637.16.037.00
  • Tissot Gents Tradition Perpetual Calendar 42MM Mens Watch T0636371603700
  • Scratch Resistant Sapphire Crystal.
  • Quartz movement.

It also contains dagger index markers (except at 12 o'clock, which is in numeral form) and a subdial to indicate the seconds.

You might think that all that makes for a messy dial, but this Tissot watch still manages to appear clean and aesthetically pleasing.

In terms of functionality, it's more on par with the Tissot Everytime Swissmatic watch rather than the higher-end Tissot models, but if you prioritize style, then this would still be a good option.

It may not have a lot of complex features, but it fulfills the most important purpose of any watch: accurate timekeeping.

  • Scratch-resistant sapphire crystal dial
  • Quality Swiss quartz movement
  • Perpetual calendar function
  • Water resistance of only 30 meters
  • Basic functions

Tissot Supersport Chronograph

The Tissot Supersport (T-Sport) Chronograph Watch is exactly what it claims to be: A sporty, masculine watch with chronograph functions. With a 45.5mm case size, it's big, bold, and attention-grabbing too.

Tissot mens Supersport Stainless Steel Casual Watch Black T1256171605100
  • Case size: 45.5 millimeters, Bandwidth: 22 millimeters, Case thickness: 11. 92 millimeters
  • Swiss quartz movement, Stainless steel case, Scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, Indexes dial type,...
  • Water-resistant up to a pressure of 10 bar (100 m / 330 Feet): Suitable for short periods of...

Based on their design and functions, Tissot Supersport watches are more suited for casual wear and the outdoors.

Some of their specifications include water resistance up to 100 meters, tachymetric [R] scales to measure speeds and distances, and Super-LumiNova index markers for easy readability in the dark.

You can also opt for a strap in other colors or even in stainless steel to make this otherwise rugged Tissot piece look a little more refined.

  • Water resistance of 100 meters
  • Scratch-resistant sapphire crystal dial
  • Quality Swiss quartz movement
  • Chronograph and tachymetric functions
  • It may feel too big and clunky for some users

Tissot Le Locle Powermatic

Like the Tissot Tradition, the Tissot Le Locle Powermatic is a vintage-inspired timepiece. This one features Roman numerals, guilloche detailing, and a classic Le Locle signature on the dial.

On Sale
Tissot Men's Le Locle Stainless Steel Dress Watch Black T0064071603300
  • Case size: 39.30 millimeter; Band width: 19 millimeter; Case thickness: 9.75 millimeter
  • Swiss automatic movement, 316L stainless steel case, Roman dial type, date
  • Leather bracelet, butterfly clasp closure

However, the Tissot Le Locle Powermatic is a more luxurious (and expensive) option: It houses the Swiss Powermatic 80 movement associated with the Tissot Seastar 1000. It also has a stainless steel case, a sapphire dial for durability, and water resistance up to 100 meters.

Its display, while uncluttered, is very basic, with the only extra feature being the date window at 3 o'clock. Those looking for a simple watch with a lot of prestige, though, will be very happy to try this one out.

After all, it's named after Tissot's home and heritage—Le Locle.

  • Water resistance of 100 meters
  • Scratch-resistant sapphire crystal dial
  • Quality Swiss automatic movement (Tissot Powermatic 80)
  • Basic functions
  • May be a little small for some users

Tissot Chemin des Tourelles Powermatic 80

Another model in Tissot's lineup of Powermatic watches, the Tissot Chemin des Tourelles' high-quality, automatic mechanism ensures accurate timekeeping.

Admittedly, its specifications aren't the best compared to the other watches on this list, but it makes up for it in sophistication and style.

  • Round watch with textured black face featuring low-profile crown, placed indices, and date window
  • 42 mm stainless steel case with anti-reflective sapphire dial window
  • Swiss automatic movement with analog display

This Tissot model has a sleek, textured black dial, raised Roman numeral and matchstick indices, and a polished, stainless steel finish. The date window is also subtly placed at 6 o'clock, mimicking the design of the Tissot Seastar 1000.

This Tissot watch is definitely a great statement piece for any man looking to find the perfect combination between traditional and modern style.

  • Scratch-resistant sapphire crystal dial
  • Quality Swiss automatic movement (Tissot Powermatic 80)
  • Water resistance of only 50 meters
  • Basic functions

Tissot T-Touch Expert Solar

The Tissot T-Touch line is very different from the other Tissot collections: It features highly-specialized, tactile watches that have a number of functions.

What I find most impressive about the Tissot T-Touch Expert Solar is the technology behind it.

Tissot Mens T-Touch Expert Solar II Mens Watch Titanium T1104204405100
  • Featuring a Grey Band, Grey Case, Tactile Scratch-resistant Sapphire Crystal Crystal

Even with complex chronograph, compass, weather, and alarm features, these Tissot watches are still user-friendly with clean-looking displays. The watches also run on solar energy [R], so they're very sustainable as well!

The only con is it doesn't have the elegance of other Tissot watches, but seeing as you get a ton of use out of them, we can't help but appreciate the innovation that went into these.

Plus, only the most high-quality materials were used to make these Tissot watches, so you can be sure they'll last a long time.

Definitely pick one up if you want a highly durable and multifunctional watch you can wear everyday.

  • Water resistance of 100 meters
  • Durable ceramic, titanium, and sapphire finish
  • Runs on sustainable technology
  • Very functional
  • Its design can look too rough for some users

Are Tissot Watches Good Quality?

With over 150 years worth of experience in the industry, Tissot continues to prove its excellence and commitment to making only the best Swiss watches.

Tissot Watch Brand History

In 1853, Tissot started as an assembly shop selling the humble pocket watch in Le Locle, Switzerland. Within the next few years, the brand rapidly grew to include foreign customers.

In the 1910s, Tissot started to manufacture their own wristwatches for both men and women. When the invention of electricity started to interfere with the accuracy of watches, Tissot was the first to introduce non-magnetic models.

Over the years, Tissot continued to be pioneers and innovators in the industry of watchmaking.

Famous celebrities, renowned organizations, and high-ranking politicians patronized the brand's watches, and many continue to do so until now.

Some of their ambassadors include Marc Márquez, a motorcycling prodigy, Klay Thompson, a three-time NBA champion, and Liu Yifei, a Chinese actress who's played Hollywood roles.

Another notable event for Tissot was its merger with Omega. Eventually, Tissot settled with The Swatch Group—a partnership they maintain until now.

Currently, around 4 million Tissot watches are sold worldwide each year.

Tissot Watch Technology

Tissot is such a trusted and reputable brand because of its cutting-edge technology and attention to detail.

Many customers praise the Tissot Powermatic 80 automatic movement and the Tissot Swissmatic quartz movement for their accuracy and convenience.

Watches with these movements can accurately tell time for up to three days without being worn—a feature quite rare for most automatic watches being sold in the market.

Tissot also utilizes Nivachron and Silicium when producing its watches to prevent electronic and magnetic interference. With this technology, Tissot watches are more precise than ever.

Lastly, Tissot watches are certified by the COSC (Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute), which means their chronograph or stopwatch features are strictly tested.

This certification also proves that Tissot watches pass its standards for accuracy, anti-magnetism, and resistance to impact.

Evidently, Tissot watches aren't just aesthetically appealing; they're also made to last.

Tissot Watch Services and Warranty Policy

All Tissot watches purchased from an authorized retailer have a 2-year warranty period that covers service due to production malfunctions. However, damage caused by accidents and normal wear and tear isn't included in the policy.

The company also recommends handling your watch with care—this includes cleaning, upkeep, and servicing every four or five years to ensure it is still functioning optimally.

If you go to Tissot's official website, you can also check out the FAQs [R] to make sure you have all the necessary information before purchasing a Tissot watch.

To avoid any problems down the road, make sure to purchase Tissot watches only from the official website or from authorized resellers.

A Brief Summary

Tissot's good brand reputation, quality products, and technological innovations are key reasons as to why it consistently performs so well all over the world.

Given that it's also more affordable than other luxury brands, you may be inclined to invest in a watch from them too!

For a budget-friendly option, we recommend the Tissot Everytime Swissmatic. It's basic but beautiful, and contains the high-quality Swissmatic movement that the brand is known for.

If you want something more stylish and unique, consider the Tissot Couturier Automatic. With a Swiss automatic movement and a carefully considered design, this model exudes luxury inside and out.

Ultimately, though, I favor the Tissot Seastar 1000 because it checks all my boxes and it's a complete package: Highly functional, elegant, and reasonably priced.

Personally, it's the epitome of Swiss luxury and style meshed with the personal branding of a genuinely Tissot product.

Lasting as long as the Tissot brand has is already an achievement in itself, but staying consistent all through the years is a different feat altogether.

If its functional, beautiful, and quality watches aren't enough indication, we think its never-failing prestige and popularity prove time and time again that Tissot is here to stay.
